PyCon, the largest conference on the Python programming language, will be online this year. Some of you may recall the fun of being there when PyCon came to Montréal in 2014 and 2015: being surrounded by like-minded people from all around the world, brushing shoulders with the giants who have shaped the language and the libraries that we use everyday, and coding until exhaustion makes us collapse during the sprints. This year will be different for sure, but there will be interactive aspects that should bring some of the glory back.
Attending, however, should not be your sole aspiration. Passionate Montréalers have spoken at PyCon for over a decade. PyCon is built by the community and each year, it's the community that shapes what PyCon feels like. This is why Montréal-Python warmly invites you to submit a talk proposal to PyCon 2021.
PyCon 2021 call for proposals is open until February 12. Accepted talks will be pre-recorded and the speakers will have an opportunity to interact with the community during a live Q&A. In order to maintain a high level of technical excellence, PyCon will also help speakers to acquire top-quality recording equipment if they need it. Isn't that great?
What should you talk about? You should talk about something that you are passionate about. If there is something about Python that puts a lasting smile on your face just thinking about it, chances are that the topic will have the same effect on other people too. If you are not sure about a topic, come and discuss it on the Montréal-Python Slack. We would be more than happy to help you flesh up your proposal.
